Jasmine Flower (1992)

By Kenny G
Turandot: Act I, ‘La sui monti dell’est’ (There, on the Mountains of the East)

“Mo Li Hua (Jasmine Flower)” is a Chinese folk song that dates back to the Qianlong period (1735-1796) of the Qing dynasty. Its enchanting melody quickly caught the attention of British diplomats, who brought it back to Europe, making it the earliest known Chinese song to spread to the West. Fast forward to 1924, when the legendary Italian composer Puccini included it in his opera ‘Turandot,’ further solidifying its place in global cultural heritage. For the past 100 years, numerous renditions of this timeless tune have been created. Now, let’s take a moment to immerse ourselves in Kenny G’s saxophone rendition before calling it a night! I’m sure you will enjoy it! 😉😄🥰
