Tianzhou 9 Cargo Spacecraft Gliding Through the Night Sky

The Tianzhou 9 cargo ship was launched on July 14, 2025, at 21:34 UTC. It docked with the Tiangong space station about three hours later, on July 15 at 00:52 UTC. The ship brought nearly 6,500 kg of supplies, including fuel, over 700 kg of science experiments, daily necessities for the taikonauts, and two upgraded spacesuits.

What an incredible sight! We Chinese often affectionately refer to it as a ‘jellyfish in the sky.’ These days, taking children to Wenchang Space Launch Site to watch a rocket launch has become a popular way for parents to reward strong academic performance. This summer vacation, two major launch events are scheduled—one on July 14 and another on August 12. Well, no kids here, but I’m seriously considering taking Labubu on a little trip to Hainan in August. Haha…

톈저우 9호 화물 우주선이 2025년 7월 14일 밤 9시 34분(UTC)에 발사되어, 약 3시간 뒤인 7월 15일 0시 52분에 톈궁 우주정거장에 도킹했어요. 이번 임무를 통해 약 6,500kg에 달하는 물자가 전달됐는데요, 연료는 물론 700kg 이상의 과학 실험 장비, 우주인들이 사용할 생필품, 그리고 새로 개선된 우주복 두 벌도 포함돼 있었답니다.

정말 장관이네요! 중국에서는 이런 로켓 발사를 ‘하늘을 나는 해파리’라고 애칭으로 부르곤 해요. 요즘엔 아이가 공부를 잘하면 부모가 원창 위성발사센터에 데려가 로켓 발사를 보여주는 게 하나의 트렌드가 되었죠. 이번 여름 방학에도 두 번의 주요 발사가 예정되어 있고, 하나는 7월 14일(이미 지나갔고), 또 하나는 8월 12일이에요.

저는 아이는 없지만, 8월에 라부부를 데리고 한 번 다녀올까 생각 중이에요. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
