New Remains Discovered At Pompeii

Archaeologists digging in the ruins of Pompeii recently made a striking discovery – the remains of two men captured at the moment of their death.

The bodies were found in a staircase of a villa.
유해는 별장의 계단에서 발견되었다.

Scientist made casts of the skeletons to help get a better picture of who these people were.
과학자들은 이 사람들이 누구인지 더 잘 파악할 수 있도록 할 수 있기 위해 해골로부터 캐스트를 만들었다.

Researchers think one of the bodies belonged to a wealthy man in his 30s or 40s and that the other remains were those of a younger man 18 to 25 who may have been a servant or an enslaved person.

Scientists could even determine the clothing the men died in. Both were wearing tunics possibly made of wool.

The cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum were destroyed in 79 AD when nearby Mount Vesuvius erupted.

The volcano spewed thick layers of ash across the cities encasing their unfortunate inhabitants for nearly 2,000 years.

The sudden nature of the destruction has created a sort of time capsule of ancient Roman times. And both amateur and professional archaeological work have been done at the sites for centuries.
