Cat Nursing On Herself

The instinct to suckle is very strong in young kittens, and this behavior can even last into adulthood. Cat’s sucking behavior is often a self-rewarding behavior. When cats nurse on themselves, they often purr and knead at the same time. When cats are orphaned or weaned early, they’re likelier to develop this behavior. Ideally, kittens should stay with their mother until they are 10 to 12 weeks old.
