Temple of Eternity

The Great Pyramid of Khufu was built around 2580 BC. Then, about 1,200 years later, King Tutankhamun showed up. Another 1,200 years passed, and along came Cleopatra. When Cleopatra gazed at the Great Pyramid, it was already 2,500 years old —as ancient to her as Confucius is to me. Just thinking about that time span is truly amazing!

Sometimes I feel a connection with ancient Egyptians, after all, we both admired the same pyramids. Then I remember dinosaurs and I also watched the same sun and moon.

쿠푸 왕의 대피라미드는 기원전 2580년쯤에 세워졌어요. 그로부터 약 1200년이 지나 투탕카멘 왕이 나타났고, 또 1200년이 흐른 뒤에는 클레오파트라가 등장했죠. 클레오파트라가 피라미드를 바라봤을 때, 그 피라미드는 이미 2500살이었대요. 그녀에게 피라미드는, 마치 지금의 나에게 공자가 느껴지는 것만큼이나 오래된 존재였던 거예요. 그 시간의 간격을 생각하면 정말 신기하지 않나요?

가끔은 고대 이집트 사람들과 묘한 연결을 느껴요. 우리 모두 같은 피라미드를 감탄하며 바라봤으니까요. 그러다 문득 떠올랐어요. 나랑 공룡도 같은 태양과 달을 봤다는 걸요. 😅😄😙
