Warring States Period Bronze Tableware Set

This set of bronze tableware was excavated in 1991 from a Warring States aristocratic tomb in the Linzi area, the former capital of the State of Qi. Its most remarkable feature is that the 59 pieces can be stacked layer by layer and finally stored completely inside a single bronze vessel. The set includes cups, small dishes, plates, bowls, boxes, and jars, showing a highly refined division of function. I am guessing the owner must be really into camping.

This ingenious design demonstrates the advanced bronze casting techniques, practical value, and outstanding artistic achievement of the time. It also provides important physical evidence for the study of the social life, dining culture, and food system of the State of Qi during the Warring States period. Now, more than 2,500 years later, it is now housed in the Shandong Museum in Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province.
