Azeem-O-Shaan Shahenshah (2008)

Jodhaa Akbar is a 2008 Indian historical romance film. Set in 16th-century India, it tells the story of the political marriage between the Mughal emperor Akbar and the Rajput princess Jodhaa. What begins as a strategic alliance gradually develops into a relationship built on mutual respect, understanding, and love between two people from different cultures and religions. More than the film itself, I especially love A.R. Rahman’s epic soundtrack.

Back in school, Chinese and Indian students in the dorms had their fair share of conflicts over everyday things. At one point, some Indian students mocked Chinese students, saying we were unattractive and that our eyes were so small they looked barely open. Then I looked in the mirror and had to admit with a laugh—most Indian girls’ eyes really did seem bigger than my mouth.

《조다와 악바르》는 2008년에 개봉한 인도 역사 로맨스 영화입니다. 16세기 인도를 배경으로, 무굴 제국의 황제 악바르와 라지푸트 공주 조다의 정략결혼을 중심으로 이야기가 전개됩니다. 처음에는 정치적 동맹으로 시작된 관계이지만, 서로 다른 문화와 종교를 지닌 두 사람이 점차 서로를 존중하고 이해하며 사랑을 키워 가는 내용입니다. 개인적으로는 영화 자체보다도 A.R. 라흐만의 음악이 더 인상적이었습니다.

학창 시절에는 기숙사에서 중국 학생들과 인도 학생들 사이에 사소한 생활 문제로 크고 작은 갈등이 꽤 있었습니다. 한때 몇몇 인도 학생들이 중국 학생들은 못생겼고, 눈이 너무 작아서 거의 안 뜬 것 같다고 놀리기도 했습니다. 그런데 거울을 보고 나니, 저도 인정할 수밖에 없었어요. 대부분의 인도 여자애들 눈이 정말 제 입보다 더 커 보였거든요. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
