Everyone knows there’s a risk, but nobody wants to slow down first. “What if I slow down and they don’t?” Classic prisoner’s dilemma.

So if this race continues, AI will keep advancing smarter and faster, and we may eventually reach a point where humans can’t even keep up with it, let alone control it.

No wonder young people aren’t having kids these days. I guess they’ve already seen the future. The future of younger generations isn’t looking too great anyway.

Best case: they work for AI as slaves.
Worse: they become batteries, like in The Matrix.
Worst: AI wipes them out altogether.

But then again, humans were never going to be here forever. The dinosaurs disappeared. One day, we will too—because of AI, an asteroid, climate change, or something we can’t even imagine.

Compared with the billions of years of Earth’s history, maybe humanity is just a brief visitor passing through. We were here. But we won’t be here forever. So, live in the moment!

그런데 모두가 이런 위험을 알고 있으면서도, 아무도 먼저 속도를 늦추려고 하지 않는 거죠. “내가 속도를 늦췄는데 쟤들은 안 하면 어떡하지?” 죄수의 딜레마.

그래서 이런 경쟁이 계속된다면, AI는 점점 더 빠르게 발전하고 결국 인류가 그 발전 속도를 따라가기는 커녕 통제조차 못 하는 상황이 올 수도 있다는 거죠.

어쩐지 요즘 젊은 사람들이 아이를 안 낳더라니… 다들 이미 미래를 내다본 거였군요. 😉 이대로라면 다음 세대의 미래가 그리 밝아 보이지 않으니까요.

그나마 가장 나은 경우는 AI를 위해 일하며 AI의 노예가 되는 것. 그보다 나쁘면 《매트릭스》처럼 AI의 배터리가 되는 것. 최악의 결말은… 태어나자마자 AI에게 제거되는 것. 😂

하지만 또 크게 생각해 보면, 인간이 애초에 지구에 영원히 존재할 수는 없었겠죠. 공룡도 사라졌고, 언젠가는 인간도 사라질 겁니다. AI 때문일 수도 있고, 소행성이나 기후변화 때문일 수도 있고, 지금은 상상조차 할 수 없는 무언가 때문일 수도 있겠죠.

수십억 년에 이르는 지구의 역사에서 보면, 인류도 그저 잠깐 들렀다 가는 존재일지도 모르겠습니다. 우리는 이곳에 존재했습니다. 하지만 영원히 존재하지는 않을 겁니다. 그러니 그냥 지금 이 순간을 즐기며 살아봅시다! 😄
