Hippo Under The Water

Hippos seem too heavy to swim, but actually their fat can help them buoyant enough to float very well. Hippos do not really swim, their method of travel is simply walking underwater. They can let themselves float or sink by controlling their breathing and body position. Hippos can hold their breath for minutes at a time.

하마는 너무 무거워서 헤엄이 불가능할 것처럼 보이지만 실제로는 지방이 많기 때문에 부력도 높아서 물속에서 잘 뜰 수 있다. 실제로는 수영보다 몰속에서 천천히 걷는다고 표현하는 것이 더 정확하다. 하마는 호흡과 자세 조절을 통해 떠 있거나 가라앉을 수 있다. 하마는 한 번에 몇 분 가량 숨을 참을 수 있다.
