My family talks about everything. Nothing is off the table.
우리 가족은 모든 얘기를 다 해요. 아무 얘기나 다 꺼내놓아요.
Talk about money constantly.
돈 얘기도 맨날 해요.
To this day, my father and I, that’s all we did was talk about money.
지금도 아버지랑 저의 대화 주제는 주로 돈이에요.
When we were small, to this day, my father knows what I make.
어릴 때부터 지금까지, 아버지는 제가 버는 돈을 다 알고 계세요.
I know what he’s got buried in the yard.
저도 아버지가 뒷마당에 뭐 묻어 두신 거 다 알아요.
Italians were always trying to figure out what stuff costs.
이탈리아 사람들은 뭐든지 가격을 따져보는 민족이에요.

여기 계신 분들 중에도 아마 “이 사람이 오늘 이걸로 얼마 버는 것 같아?”라고 생각하는 분들 있을걸요.
“How many seats you think is in the place?”
“이 공연장에 자리 몇 개나 있는 것 같아?”
Any events Italans go, they try and figure it out.
이탈리아 사람들이 이벤트에 가게 되면 무조건 가격을 계산해 봐요.
They go to a wedding. The whole ride home, “How much you think they paid for the…?”
결혼식에 가면, 돌아오는 길에 내내 “저건 얼마 들었을까?” 하면서 대화해요.
We itemized everything we saw at the wedding.
결혼식에서 본 것들 하나하나 따져보는 거예요.
“Well, they wrapped the chairs. That’s $38 a chair.”
“저 의자들을 장식했네. 하나에 38달러겠지.”
“They had a sweet table, ice sculptures.”
“디저트 테이블에 얼음 조각까지 다 했네.”
My family comes over. It’s a critique of everything
우리 가족이 우리 집에 오게 되면 집안 모든 걸 평가하기 시작해요.
My father comes to critique everything in the house.
우리 아버지는 집에 있는 모든 걸 평가해요.
He asks me what I paid for stuff constantly.
그는 특히 가격을 꼭 물어보세요.
He’ll walk around the house and just “how much? How much you pay for that?”
집의 여기저기를 둘러보면서 “얼마야? 이거 얼마 주고 샀어?”
“What they take you for? Tell me.”
“얼마 줬냐, 말해봐.”
So now I gotta give him parent price.
이럴 때는 ‘부모 적정 가격’을 알려드려야 겠죠.
You can’t tell your parents the full price. They’ll have a heart attack.
진짜 가격을 알려드리면 기절초풍하실 테니까요.
You gotta knock 90% off.
90%는 깎아서 말씀드려야 해요.
My father can’t even take the parent price.
근데 저희 아버지는 “부모 적정 가격”조차도 받아들이지 못하세요.
“I don’t know, I think that’s 400 dollars.”
“글쎄요. 400달러인 것 같은데요.”
“400 dollars?! I can make this!”
“400달러? 내가 이게 직접 만들 수 있어!”
“What? You can make a 65-inch Samsung TV set?”
“뭐라고요? 65인치 삼성 TV를 만들 수 있다고요?
“What the hell are you talking?”
“대체 무슨 말을 하시는 거예요?”
