It actually reminded me—back in the 1980s, Taiwan also broadcast to mainland China as part of its psychological warfare. When I asked my dad what they played, he said it was Teresa Teng’s songs. He told me he got to hear those beautiful melodies every single day.

근데 생각해보니, 80년대에 대만도 심리전의 일환으로 중국 본토에 방송을 송출했대요. 저희 아버지께 무슨 내용이었는지 여쭤보니, 등려군 노래였다고 하시더라고요. 매일 그렇게 아름다운 노래를 들으셨다네요.
