John:
Well, then I guess we’re going to miss the “good old days”.
Del:
What “good old days”?
John:
When people were killed by other people. Five minutes.
Del:
Murder is a new trick for a robot. Congratulations. Respond.
Sonny:
What does this action signify? As you entered…when you looked at the other human. What does it mean?
Del:
It’s a sign of trust. It’s a human thing. You wouldn’t understand.
Sonny:
My father tried to teach me human emotions. They are… difficult.
Del:
You mean your designer?
Sonny:
Yes.
네.
Del:
So why did you murder him?
Sonny:
I did not murder Dr. Lanning.
Del:
You want to explain why you were hiding at the crime scene?
Sonny:
I was frightened.
Del:
Robot don’t feel fear. They don’t feel anything. They don’t get hungry, they don’t sleep.
Sonny:
I do. I have even had dreams.
Del:
Human beings have dreams. Even dogs have dreams, but not you. You are just a machine. An imitation of life.
Can a robot write a symphony? Can a robot turn a canvas into a beautiful masterpiece?
Sonny:
Can you?
Del:
I think you murdered him because he was teaching you to simulate emotions…and things got out of control.
Sonny:
I did not murder him.
Del:
But emotions don’t seem like a very useful simulation for a robot.
Sonny:
I did not murder him.
Del:
I don’t want my toaster or vacuum cleaner appearing emotional.
Sonny:
I did not murder him.
Del:
That one’s called anger. Ever simulate anger before?Answer me, canner!
Sonny:
My name is Sonny.
Del:
So we’re naming you now. That why you murdered him?He made you angry?
Sonny:
Dr. Lanning killed himself.I don’t know why he wanted to die.
I thought he was happy.Maybe it was something I did.
Did I do something? He asked me for a favor.Made me promise.
Del:
What favor?
Sonny:
Maybe I was wrong. Maybe he was scared.
Del:
What are you talking about? Scarred of what?
Sonny: You have to do what someone ask you. Don’t you, detective Spooner?
Del:
How the hell did you know my name?
Sonny:
Don’t you? If you love them?

Susan:
What happened to you?
Del:
Headed back to the station, normal day, normal life…
driver of a semi fell asleep at the wheel.
(Semi: refers to semi trailer truck, not semiconductor.🤣)
Average guy…wife and kids… you know, working a double…not the devil.
The car he hit, the driver’s name was Harold Lloyd.
Like the film star. No relation.
He was killed instantly.
But his 12 year old was in the passenger seat.
Never really met her…can’t forget her face though.
Sarah. This was of hers. She wanted to be a dentist.
The hell kind of a 12 year old wants to be a dentist?
Yeah, the truck smashed our cars together and pushed us into the river.
I mean, metal gets pretty pliable at those speeds.
She’s pinned, I’m pinned, the water’s coming in.
I’m a cop so…I already know everybody’s dead.
Just a few more minutes before we figure it out,
NS4 was passing by, saw the accident and jumped in water.
Robot: You are in danger.
Del: Save her, save the girl! Save her!
But I, um… it didn’t. Saved me.
Susan:
The robot’s brain is a difference engine.
It’s reading vital signs that must have calculated that…
Del:
It did…I was the logical choice.
Calculated that I had 45% chance of survival.
Sarah had only an 11% chance. That was somebody’s baby.
11% is more than enough. Human being would have known that.
Robots… nothing here…just lights and clockwork.
Go ahead and you trust them if you want to. Let’s go.
