Eddie’s Mom Meets His ‘Chinese Girlfriend’

Eddie invites his girlfriend, Alison, who is white, to his house. However, worried that his mother, Jessica, might not approve of her since she isn’t Chinese, Alison asks her friend Audrey to go in her place. Just as she expected, Jessica is thrilled to see that her son’s “girlfriend” is Chinese.

In Southern China, it’s tradition to give oranges as a gift during Chinese New Year, as they represent good luck. Also, when visiting a Chinese home, guests usually remove their shoes and wear indoor slippers provided by the host.
