With this discovery, China has now surpassed India to hold the world’s largest thorium reserves. Thorium has the great potential to be a game-changer in the energy sector, offering a cleaner, safer and more abundant alternative to uranium. This discovery comes as China is already advancing thorium-based nuclear technology, with the world’s first thorium molten salt reactor currently under construction.
