German PM Merz Calls Decoupling a Mistake

German Prime Minister Merz just arrived in Beijing today. He said, “I’d like to thank President Xi for hosting me to visit China during the Chinese New Year.” He also emphasized that it would be a mistake to seek to decouple from China. Decoupling would only harm Germany’s interests, so Germany would further strengthen its economic cooperation with China.

Too bad I can’t understand a single word of what he said.

독일 총리 메르츠가 오늘 베이징에 도착했습니다. 그는 “중국 춘절 기간에 중국을 방문할 수 있도록 초청해 주신 시진핑 주석께 감사드립니다”라고 말했습니다. 이어 중국과의 ‘디커플링’을 추진하는 것은 실수라고 강조하며, 디커플링은 독일의 이익에 해가 될 뿐이라고 했습니다. 그러면서 독일은 중국과의 경제 협력을 더욱 강화해 나갈 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
