But English people don’t speak French.
하지만 영국 사람들은 프랑스어를 하지 못하죠
They go, “Do you speak French?” We go, “un peu (a little)”.
“프랑스어 할 줄 아세요?” 라고 물어 보면, “조금요.” 라는 답이 돌아오죠.
That’s what we do. “Un peu.” We’ve learned “un peu”.
우리는 보통 이렇게 대답해요 “조금요.” 우리는 “조금요.”만 배웠죠.
And we know, “Où est la gare (Where is the station)?”
그리고 “기차역은 어디인가요?”도 알죠. (관광 프랑스어 ㅋㅋㅋ)
Have you hidden the stations from us?
일부러 기차역을 숨겨두셨나요?
I love French people.
전 프랑스 사람들을 좋아해요.
I love the way that they… When they are trying to think of the next word, they make a noise continuously.
그들이 다음에 말할 단어를 생각하려고 할 때, 계속 신음 소리를 내는 걸 좋아하죠.
They go, “Je voudrais euh… un croissant euh… ( I want a croissant)”
그들은 이렇게 “어…. 크루아상…어…. 주세요.”
“Euh…Où est la gare (where is the station)? Euh..”
“어….기차역이…어… 어디죠? 어…”
I think they worry about being interrupted.
그들은 우리가 중간에 끼어드는 게 걱정되는 거 같아요.
But in England, we don’t do this. We don’t…
하지만, 영국에서 우리는 그러지 않죠.
We don’t go, “We would like to ah… some toast ah…and some fish.”
우리는 “어 저기… 토스트랑… 어… 생선 요리 주세요.” 이렇게 말하지 많아요.
It’s strange breakfast.
참 이상한 아침 식사죠.
Let’s say when French people are awake, they just wake up. “Euh…”
예를 들어, 프랑스 사람들은 잠에서 깨면, 일어나고 나서 “어어억…”
Wake up, “Euh…”
일어나서 계속 “어어억”.
Sometimes when they are hoovering, and the hoover is not plugged in,
가끔 프랑스 사람들이 청소기를 돌릴 때, 전원이 연결되어 있지 않아도
but they don’t know for hours. “Euh…”
몇 시간 동안 모르곤 하죠. “어어어억…”
Let’s see how French people handle the gaps between words. Men seem to use “euh…” more frequently than women—perhaps because they need extra time to organize their thoughts when speaking.
프랑스 사람들은 단어 사이의 간격을 어떻게 처리하는지 살펴봅시다. 제가 느끼기에, 남성들은 “어…”를 여성들보다 더 자주 사용하는 것 같습니다. 아마도 말을 할 때 생각을 정리할 시간이 더 필요하기 때문일 수도 있습니다.
