Odyssey (2026)

One of the most anticipated films of 2026. As we all know, it tells the story of Odysseus’s journey home after the Trojan War. With Christopher Nolan directing, Matt Damon as Odysseus, and Anne Hathaway as Penelope, the cast alone is enough to have me so ready for this.

And then there’s the score—Ludwig Göransson is composing. He already took home the Oscar for Oppenheimer, and I can’t wait to hear what he does with a myth this big. Swedes really do seem built for grand, epic music.

Just a quick side note: sometimes you’ll see some really bad movies still climb to the top on Netflix. It happens because when people hear it’s awful, curiosity kicks in—“Okay, but I want to comfirm that for myself.” So they click just to find out if it’s really that bad. Aka hate-watching. For me, “The Great Flood” is the perfect example.

What I felt watching this movie was like walking into a Korean restaurant called ‘The Forbidden City,’ getting served spaghetti, and they even put gelato out as an appetizer. Then the owner bullied me for not being emotionally prepared. “What are you, allergic to new ideas?”

2026년 가장 기대되는 영화 중 하나입니다. 모두가 알다시피 이 영화는 트로이 전쟁 이후, 오디세우스가 고향으로 돌아가기까지의 여정을 그린 이야기죠. 크리스토퍼 놀란이 연출을 맡고, 오디세우스 역에는 맷 데이먼, 페넬로페 역에는 앤 해서웨이가 캐스팅됐다는 것만으로도 벌써 기대감이 확 올라갑니다.

그리고 음악도 빼놓을 수 없어요. 이번 영화의 음악은 루드비그 고란손이 맡는다고 합니다. 오펜하이머로 이미 아카데미상을 받은 작곡가인 만큼, 이렇게 거대한 신화를 어떤 음악으로 풀어낼지 정말 궁금하고 기다려져요. 스웨덴 사람들은 확실히 웅장하고 서사적인 음악에 타고난 느낌이 있습니다.

잠깐 사족인데, 가끔 넷플릭스에서 진짜 별로인 영화들이 상위권에 올라갈 때가 있잖아요. 그게 왜 그런가 하면, 사람들이 “그거 완전 별로래”라는 말을 들으면 오히려 호기심이 먼저 생기거든요. “그래도 내가 직접 확인해보고 싶다” 이런 마음에 결국 눌러 보게 되는 거죠. 이른바 ‘헤이트 워칭’입니다. 제 기준엔 “대홍수”가 딱 그런 케이스예요.

이 영화 보고 든 느낌이 뭐냐면… ‘자금성’이라는 이름의 한식당에 들어갔는데 스파게티가 나오고, 심지어 젤라토가 애피타이저로 먼저 나오는 느낌? 그리고 제가 당황하니까 사장님이 왜 감정적으로 준비가 안 돼 있냐고 막 구박하더니, “손님, 창의적인 아이디어 보면 두드러기 나는 타입이세요?”
